CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS
One of the traditions of December is to prepare for Christmas Day.
You know the advent calendar, the Christmas tree, Father Christmas, the Christmas Carols, the turkey and the pudding, but do you know the "Ugly Christmas Sweater"?
Traditionally celebrated on December 21st, the Ugly Christmas Sweater* (*pull) Tradition comes from an old family tradition.
At that time, grandmothers and aunties used to knit* (*tricoter) everyone a woollen (*en laine) X-mas sweater. So, it was nice to wear it during winter.
Then, these sweaters became more and more old-fashioned* (*démodé). In the 80s, the sweaters were manufactured and became more classic.
In 2002, 2 Canadian students from Vancouver threw the first "Ugly Christmas Sweater Party". Everyone must wear an ugly Christmas sweater and at the end of the party,
everybody votes for the ugliest* (*le plus moche) sweater.
The tradition is still celebrated in Vancouver and has spread around the world.
And you? Do you have an ugly Christmas sweater?
Do you wear it on the 21st?

He made a new street artwork to denounce* (*dénoncer) the situation of homeless*(*sans-abri) people in England while* (*pendant que) people are about to* (*sur le point de) celebrate CHRISTMAS.
Do you understand the message of this picture? What do you think about it?
