911 is usually the emergency number* (* numéro d'urgence) in the USA.
It is also the contraction of the date "September, 11th".
This year, we'll celebrate the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers* (* les tours jumelles) in New york City.
Twin Towers
The Twin Towers* (= *World Trade Center) were famous buildings in NYC that people from all over the world could recognize.
On September 11, 2001, four planes were hijacked* (* détourné) by terrorists and flown* (*fly, flew, flown= voler, ici lancé) into important buildings.
Two of those planes* (*avion) were flown into the Twin Towers. The damage* (*dégâts) caused both towers to collapse* (*s'effondrer).

This changed the skyline* (*ligne d'horizon) of New York City forever.
2977 victims were killed and more than 6000 people were injured* (* blessés) that day.
It took many years for Americans to build a new skyscraper* (*gratte-ciel) where the towers used to be.
One World Trade Center
It is called One World Trade Center.
It is the highest (541m = 1776 ft) building in New York City and it shows the world how strong America is.

Oh my Gosh ! I can't believe this terrible attack happened 20 years ago ! I can remember watching the news ; I was so stunned.

Oh yes, I do remember this terrible day! I remember where I was when I heard that a plane crashed into the WTC. You're right, we mustn't forget! Have a nice day too!
